I realize the open-borders part of this is crap but hasn’t America always been about welcoming those seeking a better life, a nation where people can fulfill their dreams?

GOP hysteria about the border and MS13 is turning the GOP and American’s vision of itself into quite a dark, ugly thing, very much unlike its historical identity. (I know, this has been obvious for some time, but this tweet really illustrates it).

We are the most powerful nation on the planet but a toddler can destroy us.

This is the schizophrenic nature of the GOP right now. They live in constant fear, fed nonstop by Fox and Trump and endless parade of doom and gloom pronouncements how the American dream ended under Obama (it didn’t). The GOP now treats minorities as the enemy, women as the enemy, immigrants as the enemy (vermin/animals, etc.) and offer up walls, isolationism, and trade wars.

All this leaves us worse off economically, politically, socially, and undermines our standing in the world. We are worse off.

Now who does that benefit. It isn’t the US.

Russia and China, however, are loving this outcome.
