re: #262 LudwigVanQuixote

If you’ll indulge me a short story.

I was reading a Phoenix news site and came across an article about a Holocaust survivor and her family who happened into a local memorablia store that was selling an inordinate amount of nazi stuff. Some of it was usable like badges, medals and those big red nazi flags. Well she complained to the store owner and then to the local paper. Anyway, that’s basically the story.

The comment section had pages and pages of the most vile anti-semitic garbage I’ve ever read. Like 85% of it. Maybe 5 people spoke against it, including me, but were seriously drowned out. I reported a number of the messages from one particularly hateful person and when I returned to the site, some of the posts were deleted, but not all.

Maybe a month later, I’m reading a PA site about immigration and I notice the same nic! And the same anti-Semitic stuff, like verbatim about blood libels, the Zionist lobby, 6M never died blah blah. So I complained. Not only was every post deleted, they dumped his/her account.

So I’m not ambivalent and I don’t sit on my hands, but mostly it raises my blood pressure, so I try to avoid it when possible, esp Youtube because there’s no complaining as you said.
