re: #381 Obdicut

My wife is about to leave for four days on a retreat. I’m going to install Linux so I can dual-boot and learn Ruby on Rails. Does anyone have any particular Linux distro they love? I’m thinking OpenSUSE.

Just a view.

If I want a web server with no gui, I would go debian, it hangs back a bit from cutting edge latest released packages by default, and its stable packages are tried and tested. I have been using debian for web hosting for over fifteen years.
Keep it updated, wonderfully faithful.
Even with a web facing server, It can be 3 to 5 years without reboots on some of mime.

If its a home system, and you like the gadgets and apps to make it fun, Id go ubuntu, though it requires reasonable hardware. Its easy to install and has all the current apps you may require.
