Depending on the states, the hikes are being phased in over a period of years. It’s not all in one shot as the GOP would have people believe.

In NY, they’re doing increases by region too, with NYC/LI getting higher increases than those upstate (reflecting cost of living). Far too many businesses get subsidized through enabling their workers to work on sub-subsistence wages, but forcing them to rely on federal/state aid (food stamps, housing assistance, etc.) Walmart is notorious for that.

Making billions for shareholders, and the workers who are customer facing get crapped on.
