Most likely he has a high percentage of liars in his supporters. At the very least they are truth deniers. So, Donny fills the bill for them because he is doing what they want* against the people they all hate.

*Doing what they want but he is also doing more that hurts them. I guess hate can be used to buy health insurance, a home, a car and groceries.
