Currencies are based on trust. If a nation cannot be seen as trustworthy, the value of its currency will suffer.

But cryptocurrencies do not have any state or any other sort of politically answerable answerable entity behind them. They have no reason to be trusted other than out of a sense of cantankerous protest.

It’s fun to watch a bunch of techbros and their victims figure out exactly why every bit of banking law was written. Expensive way to learn finance, law, and economics, but some people can only learn the hard way.
