Of course, Ice. We all agree with this.
But in most cases with a gunman who has targeted an LEO, that person is one who has pretty much thrown away the shackles (to him) of the need to conform to civilized behavior. That truly is dangerous and elevates the situation. Apprehending such a criminal has the highest degree of placing the LEO’s (and general public) at risk.

I’m aware of all that. I know LEO’s myself.

I also defended FVB above. He isn’t a wingnut, just a normal person who is happens to be on the right, and was expressing a perfectly natural emotional response.
I think it’s natural to have that response in the heat of the moment. I won’t castigate him for it.

I also think that we can’t just go with our emotional responses, and we have to go with the rule of law and due process. I can’t endorse eschewing that— but I understand why someone might post that way as a first reaction. That’s all.
