It’s a government thing, I’m sure. In professional literature, there is little deviance from the idea of common ancestry. But the government prefers a more public explanation of Chinese exceptionalism. So, some scientists have to spout the party line, as when two of them were interviewed by Prof Alice Roberts for one of her docos.
It’s sad that some people think they have to rely on faking the record for a sense of achievement when there is so much realilty to point to.
