Romney jumped the gun, it has to be said. he spoke before it was understood that the attack in Libya was a well-planned assault, not just a mob action. But Mitt spoke as if it was a mob action and thus left himself in error.

Given that we’re likely looking at a Al Qaeda affiliate here, this attack is more revenge for Abbottabad than revenge for any film.

What about basing his statement on a bald-faced lie, and then repeating it after people in both parties called him on it?

And what about reports that he and his staff continue to ride with the lie today?
