Magical thinking. It’s no coincidence that they’re the same folks who think that the world was created out of whole cloth in its present form 6000 years ago.

They live in a fantasy world. America industrialized itself without government intervention. The interstate highway system was built without taxpayer money. Private citizens can threaten to shoot law enforcement if they’re white and defending a deadbeat who hasn’t paid what he owes for a few decades. Slavery would have ended on its own without a war. Jim Crow laws would have ended because people would have voted to end them. Etc.

And the federal government had nothing ot do with the abolishment of slavery or my personal favorite slavery and Jim Crow would have just died out naturally.it’s a special kind of delusion that comes with taking for granted the fights for progress made in the past. I can’t tell you how many times I hear “Unions once had a use but they’re not needed anymore.”
