Just giving you guys advance notice that I’m probably going to lose my shit for a little while if Kavanagh gets confirmed.

As we all probably will.

But I’m looking back at how this week developed, and where we are today as opposed to last Sunday. Kavanaugh’s confirmation was considered pretty much a lead-pipe cinch last weekend, even as the Ford story first hit the news.

Inside a week, the confirmation is a more open question than ever, Ed Whelan got exposed and vilified for one of the most dishonest defenses ever, and the PR firm responsible for lots of dirty shit was dragged out into the sunlight. One of their executives resigned due to his sexual misconduct, and Republicans are now pretty much damned whether they confirm Kavanaugh or not.

Gotta hand it to Senate Dems. They grabbed the narrative and turned what might have been a rote confirmation into a street fight, which they’ve so far fought to a draw.

Could any of us have foreseen this nomination not sailing through a Republican-controlled Congress? Not to sound all cliche or anything, but this is why we fight.
