So…a progressive parent should be more concerned with “serving the interests of society” than their children? Isn’t that what she’s saying here?

The child then has to live in that society. So yeah, in a way, it’s saying that giving your kids an advantage isn’t necessarily a good thing when it takes away from society as a whole.

It’s this odd notion that we actually belong to a society, rather than being brave, man-as-island pioneers striking out on our own, strangling marmosets and braining wombats on the way to the watering hole.
