Developing. Officer involved shooting in Asbury Park NJ.

The Asbury Park Press notes a witness apparently seeing an officer struggle with someone, and a single shot. The officer was apparently injured and taken away in an ambulance.

Law enforcement has a very tough job. One of the toughest out there. They risk their lives every day in maintaining public safety. At the same time, they have to uphold their end of the social compact as well. That means being responsive to public inquiry and investigations into malfeasance, excessive force, and protecting the rights of all citizens, including those that they take in to custody.
