re: #372 Barefoot Grin

Japanese twitter seems to be leaning alarmist as an official statement condemns launch as “grave and unprecedented threat.” He says, “not so fast; Japan was overshot in 1998 and 2009; must have accurate information, calmly delivered.”

Not in Abe’s interest, I’m guessing.

The nationalists are having difficulty covering up their raging stiffy over recent events, as they think the “threat” of a North Korean nuke will push public opinion towards “revising” or simply doing away with Article 9. In keeping with the theme upthread, we rubbed the noses of the “Good Germans” in the raw sewage of their atrocities and turned the camps into constant reminders of the crimes done in their names. But most of Japan’s worst crimes happened in foreign lands, so the average guy on the street could convince himself after the war that the atrocities were overblown or even totally fictional. Men like Abe grew up in a Japan that was in total denial and it shows.
