Pol Pot went to university in France. Now why is that not surprising?

The French seem to have a penchant for educating mass murderers. Pol Pot, The Ayatollah Khomeini……..I’m sure there are plenty others.
Didn’t Lenin have a haven in France before he went back to Russia and started the Worker’s Paradise……?
