ISTR an astronaut (can’t remember which one) listing all the Scientific Impossibilities in “Gravity” which was supposed to be about, you know, real astronauts. But then after explaining eleventy million ways they would all die horribly in space he said “It’s just a movie! Enjoy!”

Frankly, the scientific inaccuracies of this nature bother me a lot more than Star Wars doing whatever, because they’re actively playing off of the viewer’s presumed desire to see something that can’t actually happen.

If you see a trailer full of laser swords and telepathic wizards and planet-sized spaceships and say, “hmm, I wonder if you could actually do that!”, you deserve what’s coming to you.
