It wouldn’t have been needed if the previous prosecution team hadn’t gone so far outside the law and judicial ethics to convict those assholes the first time. They got a favorable plea deal because the current prosecutors couldn’t be sure the jury would convict after hearing about their predecessors’ shenanigans.

Moral of the Story: Taking shortcuts as a prosecutor means the risk of dirtbags getting away with murder. Those charges with arguing for the State in court must act honestly.

Does not excuse the sentences, nor the fact that the judge is openly in the tank for the (former) officers.

Also does not excuse what the city has done to the family since then.
