re: #36 KGxvi
According to my Facebook feed, the Cruz speech was the first shot fired in a party civil war. Half of the conservatives I see loved it and now think Cruz is every dreamy thing they ever want. The other half think heās a lying cheating SOB that needs to be catapulted out of Cleveland. More or less.
The half that love it are very much NeverTrump. I donāt have it in me to point out that the difference between Cruz and Trump is that Trump is just Cruz going to 11 (Iām sure Iād get the āCruz is a real conservative, Trump isnāt really conservative!ā line)
I disagree with your last sentence. Iād say that the Never Trumps who love Cruz can tell that Trump doesnāt mean anything he says, and they likely know that he has NO FUCKING CLUE WHAT HEāS DOING! The NYT article on Trumpās Foreign Policy should cause anyone, but especially anyone on the GOP side, scream, vomit, and faint. The manās talking about abandoning allies in the face of Russian aggression, for Christās sake! I mean, I know they wingnuts LUV olā Vlad Putin, but seriously?
So, while Trumpās speeches are Cruzās policies turned to 11, his actual policy knowledge and proposals are the diammetric opposite of projecting strength.
I mean, he SAYS our allies donāt think they can trust us anymore, and then he talks about not coming to their aid. He says our enemies donāt fear us anymore, and then he talks about pulling our troops out of bases in other countries around the world.
