re: #34 A hollow voice says NOW drain that swamp!

So I was reading, and I heard an odd rustling noise. Looked up and there was a freaking BIRD on top of a bookshelf. We then played a nice little game — I would open a window while the bird fled the room (not through the window) to get away from me. It ran out of new rooms to flee to pretty quickly, and flew out of an open window.

All’s well that ends well, but how did it get IN? I have some slightly open windows for air circulation, but they all have screens or blinds in front of them. “Birdbrain,” it appears, is a thing.

Do you have a chimney? Is the damper open? We once had a mockingbird fall down the chimney and we had to open the damper to let all the way down to the fireplace. Then, of course, we had a mockingbird in the house. We did manage to encourage it to fly out the door.
