The picture was taken before the ship even left harbour, and it was claimed that the picture was taken after the raid. That is a “manipulation” of the photo for ones own purposes, even if the photo itself wasn’t physically doctored

That’s quite a reach.

Frankly, it’s a lot more plausible that this was a mistake than the photo cropping, but in either case, without more information it’s impossible to say for sure.

Calling it “photo manipulation” is simply false.
