At what point does the baseball World Series change names, or truly morph into a true world championship for that sport?

It’s an American thing, we are vaguely aware of the existence of Japanese, Filipino and Latin American baseball, but would never consider them equals worthy of competing with American baseball. At least we have come to allow Canadian teams in our major leagues.
