It would have been even bigger without the Gerrymandering. Don’t know why Carville was so down on it but while I like Carville and think he was a great strategist, he’s from a different era. It’s no longer it’s the economy, stupid.

I think his method of calculating votes hadn’t adjusted to how people vote now. The easy-to-count votes, in the first places to post results didn’t look good. I blame Florida, actually. The polls looked better for Gillum than for Nelson, and looked good for both, but both ended up losing narrowly. Florida was the first to report on Election night, and boy, did it feel like a replay of 2016, with people saying “The Democrats just aren’t getting all they need here”.

Honestly, I started having a PTSD replay of 2016. But it got better. And it keeps getting better.

And if Cindy Hyde Smith has managed to torpedo her chances in what should have been a walk for her, that will be the icing on the cake - 40 seats in the House, and holding the GOP to 1 seat with the most brutal map of my lifetime? That’d be spectacular.
