This isn’t fun and games. The country isn’t electing somebody who wants to give everybody in the country 12 thousand dollars a year. It’s a moronic economic idea. Democrats tend to forget that the moderate candidate last year beat the brakes off her primary challenger last year and won the popular vote by 3 million votes. Our problem is not that we aren’t running loopy enough candidates to compete with mainstream Republicans.

I remember how Republicans tore McGovern to pieces because he supported Conservative Milton Friedman’s Negative Income Tax which would have instituted a minimum income for everyone. Every Republican running in the 1972 General Election continually blasted “McGovern’s $1,000 a year for everyone” plan.
