so let me ask again: How much of the 40% of America that the 1% own are they willing to part with to help save lives and ease the the lot of the ones most affected by the epidemic?

My best estimate is 0% or less…

Probably slightly north of that. This is the type of thing rich folks like to make a show of. Jack Dorsey from twitter has donated a billion dollars, about 25% of his net worth to Covid relief efforts and he is otherwise a pretty garbage human being.
