I am baffled by critics of Park51 who bring up that a majority of Americans oppose it but totally gloss over the fact that a majority of Manhattan residents support it. How is the opinion of someone who chances are will never see this community center matter more than someone who will see it every day. If you’re going to talk about the polling, at least focus on the people who actually live in the area.

It does not matter how many people support or oppose it. They own the property and they have a legal right to build there. Period, finished, end of conversation.
