I thought it would be Perry but Romney outwingnutted him on immigration and that was all she wrote. I did not for a million years think Santorum would end up being Mitt’s biggest challenger because I thought even his schtick would be annoying for Republican primary voters.

I think Perry out-“stupided” himself, and a good thing too, because Perry was certainly more charming than Mitt (and Newt, well, we won’t even go there.)

At a breakfast I went to where Perry and Newt were in attendance in 2012, Perry was glad-handing everyone in the room, all smiles; Newt sat on the dais and talked only to his staff. Perry could actually work the crowd—Newt could barely work his hair.
