Sounds nice, but “generic ballot” is not who’s running. It’s two (or maybe three or four) candidates for each seat being contested.

I’ve never been a big fan of these “generic ballot” polls. It seems to me that they might indicate the general excitement or disappointment in the electorate for one party or the other, but they don’t really capture the differences in each district or state.
