Blanche Lincoln, Ben Nelson, Evan Bayh, Mary Landrieu, and Max Baucus are the types of senators that you tend to get with a 50-state strategy. I remember the rage against all of them. There was a lot of in-fighting in blogs about the need for them, and how we needed to get better Democrats in those seats.

Let’s say do make headway over the next two election cycles. How do we keep from blowing up again if these type of Dems replace the Republicans that hold those seats now?

They all were obviously far from my favorite Dems but they were Dems none the less. Obviously, a party’s gotta have principles but Nelson to his credit was one of the first people to endorse then Senator Obama for office. There’s a difference between being a conservative Dem and an outright fat fuck. People are going to have to accept that if we return to the 50 state strategy, we will have some Blue Dogs in office.
