We’ve banked on the better angels of conservatives all too often for it to blow up in our faces when they demonstrate that ‘owning libs’ is the only virtue they ever see. We’ve seen the GOP go from Trump as candidate being a red line to ‘All Hail God-King Trump I’ because it gave them unlimited power and made the libs mad, therefore it had to be an objective good.

Banking on any genuine conservative backlash is a fool’s errand and I refuse to try and kick that football again.

The “conservative” backlash may happen when enough of them realize that they need healthcare and sometimes abortion. The key word is may. It also may happen if a democratic house controls the budget and the red states all need money. The revolution may be shutting down the govt until one side blinks.
