Don’t dispare. One of the most astute real estate investors I ever knew was negative cash flow on most of his properties for a long time. But he hung onto them, doing without a lot of things some of us consider necessities, and repeatedly refinanced as interest rates came down in the 80’s and 90’s. Now he’s got most of them paid off and has a comfortable retirement income that isn’t subject to the whims of the stock market.
