I disagree. McConnell quietly makes it okay for the whole party to be completely partisan, and act solely on partisanship. He appears to lack any real principles.

- McConnell is the one who came up with the total obstruction plan in 2009.
- McConnell is the one who put making Obama a 1-term President ahead of the good of the country at a time when our economy was hanging by a thread.
- McConnell is the one who forced Reid’s hand on judicial filibusters in 2013.
- McConnell is the first Congressional leader to oppose Obama’s plan to attack Syria over the 2013 gas attacks.
- McConnell is the one who first came out with the plan to deny Obama the nomination of Scalia’s replacement.
- McConnell is the one who KNEW that the Russians were trying to elect Trump and made it clear that if this were made public before the election he’d denounce it as a partisan ploy.
- McConnell is the one who engineered the Nuclear Option.

If you think he’s just a generic Republican, I’d say he’s succeeded.

McConnell’s rap list is impressive. IMO any other Republican in McConnell’s position would have done much the same. The party really is that far gone. Any ultra-microscopic traces of decency that may have remained in the party after the W Bush years were immediately gone once Obama was elected.
