re: #374 SanFranciscoZionist

Under Bush, Iran was prancing around with folk dancers waving ‘uranium’ in little containers, but it was not seen by his supporters as a referendum on the effectiveness of George W. Bush. Nor should it have been.

Any analysis of international affairs that depends on a general idea of how the president is ‘seen’ by the world is basically wishful thinking.

And neither you nor I know what’s being said to Erdogan behind closed doors.

There is so much that goes on in government behind closed doors, that for good reason, the public is not aware of. What is said in public is said with a particular audience in mind. It’s what you see happening in any congressional hearing - they all speak to their particular audience, not really to the person being questioned.

We have to trust that our officials, in the end, have the best possible intentions. and aren’t simply eeevil people out to ruin us.
