I didn’t get the context, but I am aware that some kinds of evil, have some biological component in that:
1) both empathy and aggression have whole systems in the brain that support them
2) but just because we have an empathy SYSTEM (since we’re social animals) and an aggression SYSTEM isn’t that impressive, everything we do is supported by our biology
3) our BELIEFS are more important than our emotional subtrait in determining our perception and goals and therefor our actions, and that is 0% biology

The professor’s point was that the tendency towards antisocial behaviour is rooted in genetics, whether a mis-wiring or an evolutionary adaptation no longer appropriate, that in most people isn’t physically expressed without external, environmental influences. Both the genetic and the environmental conditions have to be met for antisocial behaviour to dominate.
