See, there were two things that happened in the last week that separately would have been damaging but together were absolutely fatal to Trump’s campaign.

The first was the tape that sparked off Gropegate, which would have been bad enough if Trump had copped to it. But he didn’t, he did the absolute worst thing he could have possibly done and did it on live TV: He denied it had ever happened and basically dared the media to prove him wrong. You could hear Anthony Weiner’s facepalm from Mars.

The second was deciding to unearth fossilized Clinton “scandals” like Broadderick and Jones and parade them in front of the nation in an effort to shame Hillary. Bad enough move on its own, holding a wife responsible for the actions of her husband. But then they doubled down by charging her with the unforgivable “crime” of raising doubts about these women’s allegations and “threatening” them. Accusations that rely almost entirely upon the word of those women.

So, tl;dr, the Trump campaign basically set the stage for this fiasco and barred their only means of escape from it. They dared the media to prove Trump is a sexual predator and the media obliged, and their defenses of “That was ages ago” or “They’re just making shit up” ring hollow in light of their attacks on Bill and Hill.

Say, should I see a doctor? My schadenfreude has last way longer than 4 hours.
