Was just in Guadalcanal and the Solomons last November, on a scuba trip. Amazing place. Not much has happened since the war. People still make their homes in old abandoned war structures, and the shallow waters are full of stuff that the Americans just shoved off the docks because it would have cost too much to ship it home—upside down jeeps with the tires still intact, together with old coke bottles etc
