I’ve worked in retail, after a long “office” career. Drop the “polished” resume; they’re not interested in what you did 21 yrs ago, either, or what you do on a volunteer basis, or even how much education you have, only if you can “follow orders”.

Just go in there cold, with no real experience listed, and you actually might get something, even if it’s a cashier’s job, esp since you’re a computer user. There is no “ladder climbing” from actual clerking, unless you want to be a dept mgr or something similar. You’re going to start out at min wage or just a little above in any retail job, in the south.

They hire teens w/no experience, why not a mature woman? Just don’t go into it with any expectations of climbing any ladders.
