re: #380 Afrocity

I’m a transplant living out on the West Coast and typically my best bet to catch the Red Sox in person is when the play the Angels (including the ALDS, it seems) or those even more rare occasions when they play the Dodgers or Padres for inter-league. Having said that, I actually got to follow the Red Sox around a little in ‘05…starting w/ some interleague play in St. Louis before they moved up the road to play the Cubs @ Wrigley. I caught the opening game before flying back- Maddux beat Arroyo in a Friday afternoon affair. I loved Wrigley park, it was one of those places I always wanted to see in person and it would’ve been a shame to miss the opportunity to catch the Red Sox in the National League’s most celebrated ballpark.

Thought about going back last year when the ChiSox were hosting the BoSox on the south side and the Cubs and Cards were going at it on the north side. I scrubbed those plans when I ….

A) Spent most of my stimulus money- remember those $300/$600/$1200 checks the dems sneered at?- on a day-trip to Seattle to catch the BoSox vs Mariners and

B) Was invited back east by my family for my granpa’s 89th birthday and got to catch the Sox/Yankees at The House That Ruth Built Epstein Wrecked on the 4th of July, the first 2 games between the BoSox and Twins @ Fenway and a side trip to the HOF in Cooperstown…

/worthwhile trip, but no Giordanos deep-dish pizza
