Not very effective…yet, but cover the side of a skyscraper with it, and you get a pretty big surface to generate electricity.
True, but it’s exciting to see new applications. I am also intrigued with the solar roof “shingles”.
We use our solar panels as backup to the main grid, but have been using solar exclusively to operate our well pump and, in winter, the pumphouse lighting and heat tape. There are also electrical outlets in the power/battery room where I can charge phones, laptops, plug in the coffeemaker and portable convection cooktop, etc., during an emergency. The windmill will be tied in soon.
