re: #387 MsJ

So because nobody bothered to fix what was broken it’s too much to do it? I call bullshit on not being able to handle it. People at the lower end of the spectrum can only work so many jobs before giving up - or getting sick from working three or four jobs only to not have access to healthcare because it’s healthcare or food.

I think you’re talking past each other. Brian J isn’t saying that $15/hr is bad. He’s pointing out that in a state like Louisiana where half of wage earners make less than that, it would be a giant shock to the system. And likely, impractical to boot. Hell, California, with our median income over $60,000 (meaning median hourly income is somewhere around $30/hr) isn’t going to get to $15/hr as minimum wage until 2022. A big jump in the minimum wage would likely have an inflationary effect with many retail/restaurants raising prices to compensate for suddenly much larger overhead - meaning your plan of people having more disposable income goes out the window.
