I am deeply moved by the story of her role in San Francisco leadership when Harvey Milk was assassinated. She will always have a place of respect in my heart for that.

Also, I was 6 years old when that happened and am pushing 50 now.

She won my undying gratitude for forcing through the earthquake retrofit of Candlestick Park, against a LOT of opposition (“why should public money pay for it? So spend an extra few years, we can get the team to pay…”)

She saved 20,000 lives.
