I’m not saying it was morally justified, but I (and millions of others) saw it as a betrayal of his purist, minimalist, acoustic beginnings.
you’re too deep in…his very best stuff was far later in his career…standing there playing a very mediocre guitar and an average, at best, harp must have gotten pretty boring for the guy…give him a break…without a good band and amplification, there would never have been Highway 61 or Blonde on Blonde or Blood on the Tracks…he needs to satisfy himself, before he can satisfy you
