re: #3 Flounder

Estimates of the contribution to the global budget of methane from termites vary widely, from negligible up to 15 percent.

Are…are you actually saying that because methane’s main contributing factor can’t be controlled, we just need to give up on trying to fight the anthropogenic portion?!?

Wait, your profile says “evil conservative”, you’re one of the leftovers who didn’t flounce, that’s exactly what you’re being flippant about.

No, it means that we have to be more aggressive in taking down what we can so the Clathrate Gun doesn’t fire. That means cutting CO2 further than we would have otherwise, and doing what we can to cut methane. Unfortunately, I’m afraid that what we can do is wipe out Bos taurus as a species since it’s the second-biggest contributor of methane behind the termites. They speculated about that in the early ’90s on one of those ‘alarmist’ shows on PBS.

I’d miss my beef, but I have a feeling humanity as a whole would miss having half the Earth, including most of Russia, habitable moreso.
