I find this fascinating. When I was working in Asia, one of the biggest issues they have in quality control is that the Chinese are raised with that same thought (or lack thereof) process which kills them when it comes to reporting quality issues. They cannot think on their own, which translates into two troubling areas: inability to make the connections when problems arise as to why they are happening (root cause determination) and fear of reporting issues that arise.
