West has always amused me: he wants to be a revolutionary direct action sort of socialist but really doesn’t have the fire in his belly for it, so instead he’s the occasional poseur for an angry young socialist. His associations with Farrakhan and some radical pro Palestinian groups makes me not trust anything he says. Of course he would point at that statement and say “See! I told you so”.
