I don’t get Palin’s popularity with the right wing. I honestly don’t. What is it? She is not that good looking is she? Or do they like how she throws in immature mean girl insults at the Democrats and Obama? Is it the religion and guns angle? All of the above?

She’s got a flair for populism: she knows how to flatter her constituents and demonize her opponents. She’s also very good at suggesting that she and conservatives like her (white, Rapture-ready Christian, upper middle class, jingoistic and culturally imperialist) are the real victims.
