I would only add this is about power and not religion.

Control the masses, control the streets and you control the government.

Oh I agree and even said as much last week. It is about power for the clerics and the AQ commanders. When you go lower down the food change then it becomes more religious. It’s those leaders that motivate and often trick the protesters into rage.
