Romney Sinks Quickly in Republicans' Esteem

Romney was at best a transitional, situational candidate for the GOPteabag party. He was neither a tie to the party’s past or a well known spokesman for its present and future. Nor was he a media Republican, like McCain. He was someone the party thought could win the election—perhaps the only one of its announced candidates they thought could. And he’d run the cycle before and finished runner-up, so he was next in line. Who’s next in line now? Will they reach back to the past again and put forward Jeb Bush? Jim DeMint seems like someone pretty representative of the “new”, southern-based GOP. Or Kansas gov Brownback (sp), who didn’t make much of an impression his first time but who now with some gubernatorial experience might make more of a splash. He seems like a True Believer. Either way, 2016 will be crazier than 2012.
