It was a lousy idea from the start. I can’t imagine being afraid that every visitor to any school is armed and not knowing whether the visitor is there to handle issues related to his/her child or to commit mass murder. When I retired from teaching high school in 2009, it was with a sad heart. I knew that I’d miss the kids, but a health issue pushed me to do it. IMO, guns have no place in schools, and anyone who would think so is nuts. I cringe when I think of the idea that more lives would probably have been lost in Newtown, CT if teachers and other untrained school officials had got into a “Gunfight at the OK Corral” type of scenario with Adam Lanza. Lawmakers like Snyder would rather increase easy access to all guns rather than face their responsibility to try to prevent as much gun violence as possible.
