But here’s my question: How many of these people are going to forget all about this and vote for Trump AGAIN in 2020?

Trump got 46% of the vote in 2016. There’s a portion that really won’t vote for him, whether they vote for the Democratic nominee, a third party candidate, or just don’t vote. Then there’s a solid group of people who will vote for him because he has the R next to his name and that’s what they do and/or because they’re in the Trump cult. There’s another solid group that will vote for him because, in their view, he’s better than the alternative. My guess is he will end up getting somewhere between 38 and 42% of the popular vote in 2020, assuming similar or greater turn out to 2016 and 2018. There’s just simply too many people in the “definitely not voting for Trump” camp per the polls for him to do any better. His only real chance at re-election is by depressing turnout, and I think we’ve reached the point where anything he does to drive down turnout will result in an increase in turnout.
