Since I confessed one sin from when I was 5, here I will confess that in 2000 I encouraged my wife to list her race as Native American in the census because her family tree showed that she is a descendant of John Rolfe and Pocahontas. I now realize that was insensitive, but fortunately Mrs. Aagcobb is unlikely to run for a high office.

I mean I don’t think it should ruin Warren but I hope she sees why it was insensitive just like you do now. One reason why I’ve been a little more sympathetic towards Herring is I think he realizes why it was wrong more than Northam did. Likewise, I think that Florida legislator’s example was more benign than the former SoS down there. All were racially insensitive but all seem a bit different IMO.
